AIB and GAA agreed a new 5 year sponsorship deal for club championships in 2007.
The five year extension cemented the Bank's highly successful sponsorship of the All-Ireland Hurling and Football Club Championships. The new deal extends the partnership to the 2011/2012 season which will mark the 20th Anniversary of AIB's GAA sponsorship of the championships.
Commenting on the agreement back in 2007, Eugene Sheehy, Chief Executive, AIB Group said, "This agreement reflects our strong relationship with the GAA and gaelic games. I am delighted to be making this announcement at a time when the focus of the GAA is beginning to once again shift towards the club. All of us in AIB look forward to working closely with the Association in promoting and advancing our national games in the years to come".
Speaking on behalf of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, An t-Uachtarán, Nickey Brennan, said, "We are delighted that AIB will be continuing their involvement with the Club Championships for the foreseeable future. Their support over the years has been a key reason for the growth in popularity and stature of these competitions. Their marketing campaigns have been both imaginative and appropriate and have helped to reinforce the message that the GAA club is at the heart of the community in Ireland. I would like to thank AIB for their continued support and we look forward to working with them over the coming years in this context."
AIB is in its third decade of sponsorship with the GAA and particularly the AIB All Ireland Club Championships since the early nineties.
